August WOW emails

Autumn is upon us, but before we pull out our woolly jumpers, I’m taking one more look back at some WOW emails that impressed me back in August.

Subject line: For some brows that need some lovin’

This email was one of my favourites in August, as it had so much interesting and relevant content – we all know how hot the eyebrow trend is right now!

The first thing that caught my attention was the email’s design. It looked great with the brand’s pink theme throughout. Within the email, Benefit promoted their new product line with helpful buying guides. The email also included strong call-to-actions for online beauty tutorials and advice.

When I clicked through to their website, I found even more engaging content online. I was could answer a series of multiple choice questions to find out which products were best suited to me, and there was a discount for me to use if I wanted to order online – how could I resist?

This email was a great example of how creating engaging content instead of overselling products can work wonders for an email’s click through rate.

Subject line: August horoscopes, comin’ in hot

This postcard email from Loft stood out in my busy inbox. Its subject line intrigued me to open and find out how horoscopes could link with fashion.

Inside, the bold and bright range of colours and animation of the spinning wheel kept my eyes glued to my screen. The copy was cute yet straightforward – perfect for a postcard. However, to improve on this, Loft could’ve added some personalisation, rather than just asking me ‘Hey, what’s your sign?’

There was also great added value content, I could click on my star sign and read the horoscope for that month. When I clicked through to the landing site, each horoscope was matched to an outfit, which I loved as it was a different way to entice me to check out their new collection, rather than showing a pile of clothing that they have launched!

Mr Porterporter

Subject line: Eight for August: the high summer checklist

Mr Porter executed the simple concept of a checklist perfectly with this email.

All the summer essentials were numbered, which was a clever way of leading me down the email. Each product was attractively showcased with a stylish photography shot and a brief description.

Although I wouldn’t be buying anything, the email offered handy inspiration for their target audience. And if the customer was keen to purchase, each call-to-action directed them to the item’s specific landing page, making shopping quick and easy.
