My first month at Red C

I’ve been on placement at Red C for over a month now, so thought I’d better say hello!

Whilst studying Events Management at university, I’ve become interested in learning more about marketing, so thought it’d be a great idea to apply for a marketing placement.

I applied for many roles, but was up against tough competition, as many students had something I didn’t… two years experience of a marketing degree.

After months of juggling university deadlines, my part time job and of course, a social life, I got the call from Red C.

At Red C, I am split across three teams, so I’m going to get lots of different types of experience and work with a range of clients. Each team works with different clients, across multiple industries, such as, Swinton, Bupa and JD Williams.

Since starting my placement, I’ve helped teams with client/industry research, collate results from websites and I’ve attended client meetings and been involved in briefings with the creative department. I’ve also enjoyed Red C ‘Share & Learn’ sessions, where the team talks about new marketing techniques that could be beneficial for other staff members and clients. In the first session I attended we discussed Red C’s Direct Mail Fall Out Model.

For any student starting a placement, I have some advice… understand what your new job role involves… turn up looking professional with a positive attitude… and ensure you have an early night the day before your placement begins!
